Trivia: GRAMMYs don’t love Kates

The most astonishing thing happened as I was researching for this week’s Trivia. While I’m usually trying to discover new areas in which Kates thrive, instead this week I found an odd void of Katesthe GRAMMYs!

And now that I’m thinking about it, why is that? Where are our great Kate musicians?

Of course there’s Katy Perry…

Katy Perry

and Kate Bush…

Kate Bush

and Kate Nash…

Kate Nash

The question is why haven’t any of these amazing singers found favor with the GRAMMYs? It is truly a mystery. The siren sounds of “Last Friday Night”, “This Woman’s Work”, and “Merry Happy” have not beguiled the committee of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences.

I don’t understand it.

The only Kate to ever win a GRAMMY award isn’t even a musician. Kate Winslet won the award for her spoken word role on the 2000 children’s album Listen to the Storyteller. But please don’t take my word for it; look it up in the GRAMMYs past winners search feature. One Kate in all of GRAMMY history has won the coveted award.

I also don’t understand the dearth of Kate songstresses. Where are all of our songbirds? There simply must be more. The quest begins to unearth more great music produced by the pantheon of Kates. Until next time…

Trivia runs on Kate-book.com every Monday at 10:30am. It is written by the insanely knowledgable Kate E. Stephenson. Read much more about Kate here, and click here to follow her on Twitter.
